Hot yoga
Hot yoga is another word for Bikram Yoga. This style of
yoga was developed by a man named Bikram Choudhury, at his Los Angeles
based school. This school is known as the Yoga College of India and
was founded in Beverly Hills in 1974
There are a few qualities of hot yoga which are very specific to the
practice. The reason it gets its name is because it is practiced in
a room with a temperature of about 105°F. The purpose for maintaining
such a temperature is to encourage sweating, which can aid in ridding
the body of toxins. Another reason for the heat is to warm the body
to increase flexibility.
Hot yoga involves more than just heat. There are 26 specific poses
to be utilized in succession. They are designed to target all areas
of the body, including muscles, joints, and organs. Along with specific
poses, specific breathing techniques are to be practiced.
